What Is The Dry Golfer?

(And What It’s Not)

The Dry Golfer isn’t a program.
It’s not a challenge.
And it’s not about trying to get something out of golf.

It exists because there aren’t many spaces in golf where not drinking feels normal—where it doesn’t need an explanation, a reason, or a punchline.

What The Dry Golfer Is

The Dry Golfer is a space for golfers who play without alcohol, or are curious about what that looks like, without turning it into a statement.

It’s about:

  • Being comfortable ordering a water
  • Enjoying the round without planning around drinks
  • Feeling present for the walk, the conversations, the quiet moments
  • Letting golf be the experience—not the excuse

Some people here are sober.
Some are cutting back.
Some just don’t feel like drinking when they play.

All of it belongs here.

This Isn’t About Playing Better

Let’s be clear about that.

The Dry Golfer isn’t about lower scores, more focus, or unlocking some secret edge.

You can play great golf while drinking.
You can play terrible golf sober.
Most of us live somewhere in between.

This isn’t about performance.

It’s about changing the story that alcohol has to be part of the round to enjoy it.

Golf Comes First

Golf has always been the point.

The routines.
The walk.
The time outside.
The conversations between shots.

The Dry Golfer isn’t here to replace any of that—it just makes space for golfers who choose not to drink while doing it.

No explanations.
No assumptions.
No pressure.

What The Dry Golfer Is Not

It’s not anti-drinking.
It’s not judgmental.
It’s not a badge of honor.

And it’s definitely not about telling anyone else how they should play or live.

You don’t need a reason not to drink.
You don’t need to justify it.
You don’t need to explain yourself.

Why This Space Exists

In golf culture, drinking is often the default.
Opting out can feel awkward, even when it shouldn’t.

The Dry Golfer exists to make that choice feel ordinary.

Not brave.
Not impressive.
Just… normal.

Who This Is For

This space is for you if:

  • You enjoy golf without alcohol
  • You’ve ever felt out of place choosing not to drink
  • You want a golf space where clarity doesn’t need defending
  • You’re curious about a different way of showing up on the course

You don’t need a label.
You don’t need a timeline.
You don’t need a story.

You just need to enjoy golf this way.

Where To Go Next

If you want to understand why this space matters to me personally, I share that in How Golf Helped Me Stay Sober.

If you’re starting to recognize some familiar patterns, Signs You’re a Like-Minded Golfer might resonate.

This isn’t about being better or worse with your scores.

It’s about giving golfers permission to play without alcohol, and not make a thing out of it.

Not better.
Not worse.
Just different.
