About The Dry Golfer
Why This Exists
Our feeling is that there was always something missing in golf culture. The game itself offered calm, routine, and connection; but too often, the social side revolved around drinking as the default. If you didn’t want that, there weren’t many places that felt like they were built with you in mind.
“Sober and sober-curious” matters because it creates room. Room for people who don’t drink, people who drink less, and people who are simply paying closer attention to what works for them. No labels. No expectations. Just the freedom to enjoy golf on your own terms.
And this isn’t about content alone. It’s about community. Shared experiences last longer than posts, and connection matters more than algorithms. The Dry Golfer exists to bring people together around a version of the game that feels clear, welcoming, and sustainable.
About The Dry Golfer
Golf. Clarity. Community.
The Dry Golfer is a space built around the game we love and the way it makes us feel when we show up clear, present, and intentional. It’s not about changing who you are. It’s about creating room to enjoy golf (and life) without the noise.
This community exists for golfers who value routine over chaos, connection over comparison, and the quiet confidence that comes from knowing what works for them.
Eric Foster - Founder
Golf has been part of Eric’s life for years, but his relationship with the game changed after getting sober in 2014.
As the founder of The Dry Golfer, Eric is building the kind of golf community he believes should exist: one where choosing not to drink on the course doesn’t require an explanation. The Dry Golfer brings together people in recovery, the sober-curious, and anyone who simply enjoys golf without alcohol.
Eric combines his background in marketing, events, and the golf industry with his own experience in sobriety to help create approachable ways for people to connect through the game.
He’s also very much an average golfer. Complete with bad swings, lost balls, questionable decisions and the occasional round that keeps him coming back.
For Eric, The Dry Golfer isn’t about changing golf. It’s about making a little more room within it.
Ben Alexander, PGA - Dry Golfer Professional
Ben’s connection to The Dry Golfer goes beyond the golf course. He’s a Dry Golfer himself and brings his own experience with sobriety to the community.
As General Manager of The Oaks in Somersworth, New Hampshire, Ben has also played an important role in helping turn The Dry Golfer from an idea into an actual experience. The Oaks has become home to the Local 9 Series and Dry Golf Days, creating a place where golfers can get together, play the game and connect without alcohol being part of the experience.
Ben brings years of experience in the golf industry along with a personal understanding of why spaces like this can matter. He believes golf can bring people together in a way that goes well beyond what happens on the scorecard.
For Ben, being a Dry Golfer is personal, and helping create more opportunities for others to experience the game this way is something he’s proud to be part of.
